INHERITANCE FROM FATHER THOMAS SANFORD

David was mentioned as son in the undated will of Thomas Sanford of Stratfield, which was proved 6 December 1757. In 1759 David (listed as of North Castle, Westchester County, New York) sold his right in the estate of his father Thomas.

CONNECTICUT TO NEW YORK

David Sanford moved (along with his son, Ezra Sanford Sr) to Warwick, Orange, New York in 1764.

BUILT HOME IN WARWICK IN 1765

In 1765 David Sanford built a house at the south end of Bellvale Mountain off Cascade Road. The Sanford family lived there many generations. In 1834 David’s grandson, Ezra Sanford, Jr., purchased a house and farm on Covered Bridge Road on the hill just before the intersection with Sanfordville Road. Link to full article

MENTION IN WILL OF BROTHER THOMAS

There is a report of David Sanford being mentioned in the will of his brother, Thomas Sanford, who died about 12 April 1767. It indicated that this brother, Thomas, was living in Trumbull, Fairfield, Connecticut.

DEATH

There seems to be consensus that David Sanford died in 1767 in Warwick, Orange, New York.

Checked the cemeteries in Warwick and did not locate a tombstone for David Sanford.
