BIRTH

According to her baptism record, Georgina Alexandra Moore was born in 1863. Her father was George Moore and her mother was Eleanor Magrath (Moore).

Her parents’ selection of a name for this third daughter is unknown. However, it may be that the lack of a son may have influenced the name and they picked Georgina to honor her father (George) and Alexandra to honor her paternal grandfather (Alexander).

The children of George and Eleanor Moore are:
Jane Frances Moore born 1860
Anna Eleanor Moore born 1861
Georgina Alexandra Moore born 1863 DIRECT LINE ANCESTOR
Alexander Benjamin Journeaux Moore born 1865
George William Moore born 1868

BAPTISM

Georgina Alexandra Moore was baptized 8 October 1863 at St Mary’s (Church of Ireland) in Limerick, Limerick, Ireland. Father listed as George Moore, Shop Assistant. Mother listed as Ellen (for Eleanor). Address listed as Cecil Street.

This record was very challenging to locate, as Georgina was entered as Geoa. Actually found by process of verifying siblings before and after Georgina were born in Limerick. Then did search in rootsireland.ie for years between the siblings for babies born in Limerick with surname Moore. Worked.

DEATH OF DAUGHTER VERA

George and Georgina’s daughter, Vera Ward Verry was born in early 1896 but did not thrive. The condition was called marasmus and involved severe malnutrition. [Could Vera’s mother’s tuberculosis have contributed to her baby’s poor health?] After only three months Vera died 29 March 1896. Vera was buried 31 March 1896 at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Toronto. Grave 1010 in baby section was purchased by George Verry, which verifies he was parent of Vera.
