FROM NEW YORK TO MICHIGAN

William and Betsy moved from New York to Michigan about 1840 in a covered wagon and ox team and settled just north of West Hanover. They lived in a one room log cabin near Lake Rustine, which William named.

Notes suggest that they may have followed William’s father, who moved from New York to Michigan previously (perhaps about 1835).
